Miriam is an active cellist; performing frequently with the San Francisco Symphony, Opera and Ballet Orchestras and is involved in a wide variety of chamber music and recording projects. Miriam has also acted as an arts organization consultant providing artistic, organizational and development advice to various San Francisco Bay Area orchestras, dance companies, music education programs and music festivals. She currently serves as Vice President of the San Francisco chapter of the Recording Musicians Association.

Miriam co-founded Stratos - a conductorless chamber orchestra integrating multiple art forms into live performance. In addition, she co-founded the New Century Chamber Orchestra in 1992 and was the founder of the Modern Arts Trio, a piano trio known for premiering works by composers from around the world. Miriam studied cello at Manhattan School of Music and Indiana University and received her Masters degree from Yale. In addition to her many recordings, she can be heard on two CD volumes of cello ensemble works on Delos Records, both of which were nominated for a Grammy Award.
